London’s kicking ass! 2022’s Events and Exhibitions are flocking to the capital

We all know London’s amazing, right? Well, the exhibition industry thinks so too, judging by some of the impressive events coming to our fabulous capital.

Leading the blazing trail for venues now that the pandemic shackles are off is ExCel. Internationally convenient for exhibitors and visitors due to its almost spitting-distance proximity to London City airport, Excel’s carbon neutral status also marks it out as a sustainability leader within the events industry. And this has shone a spotlight on it for some boast-worthy client bookings.

We’ll mention the family-friendly must-see first, as, let’s face it, we’re only halfway through the school holidays, and child occupation is a priority. With that in mind, ExCel bagged a goody with Jurassic World: The Exhibition, kicking off on August 25th right through to the end of November. Jurassic World promises an immersive experience that brings the movie franchise to life, complete with viewing lab, and a walk through those famous gates. You don’t need kids to go, and frankly we may leave ours at home so we can experience full-size T-Rex just before the pub.

But, Jurassic World isn’t the only feather in ExCel’s cap this year. As if the dino-extravaganza wasn’t enough, IAAPA Expo Europe 2022 is hosting at the London venue from September the 12th through 15th.  IAAPA unashamedly and deservedly boasts that it holds the leisure and attractions industry’s largest international trade show and conference in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Attractions professionals from around the globe flock to the event, and this year, they’ll be networking with life-size dinosaurs if the vino flows too smoothly.

One last shout-out for ExCel, whose marketing department deserve gold stars all round. Because, between 18th and 21st August, they’re home to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships. That’s right – the very best Pokémon Trainers will be vying for the title of World Champion. What the hell does that mean? Ask your kids or gamer buddy, but for now, let it be enough to know that Pikachu will be there.

Not to be left in the shade, the Science Museum is reaffirming its credentials as a trailblazer in not only the museum industry, but for showcasing exciting and innovative events. We can’t wait to see how they’re going to present Science Fiction: Voyage To The Edge Of Imagination, but our ears pricked up at a promised “interactive voyage”.

The blurb goes something like this: “Guided by an artificial intelligence of alien origin, you will be placed at the heart of an exciting science fiction adventure. Board and explore a unique spaceship, scout an unknown planet, and investigate how scientists and science fiction creators have imagined and built new worlds to better understand our own.” Man, we can’t wait!

There’s a lot of variety in this, but if you’re working in the events, exhibitions and museum industries, each one of the above is going to be worth a visit. They’ll be showcasing the best of the best ideas, and this can only spark new ones. Hope to see you there!
