What’s smoking hot in hospitality ID for 2023?

Simple yet luxurious interior design is the name of the game

One truism that the hospitality industry knows better than any other, is that you’ve got to be ahead of the game if you want to keep customers coming back for more. A restaurant or hotel’s interior design is as much a part of the product as the staff, the cuisine and the comfort level of the king-size bed. The reason is simple – ambience. If your establishment doesn’t get it right, there’ll only be tumbleweed making its way through the door.

The new guest experience.

According to eHotelier, 2023 is seeing the stateside hospitality consumer yearning for a feeling of community and connection. And as the world is so interconnected these days, this trend will be reverberating across the Atlantic at the speed of light (or your fastest internet connection).

Interestingly, this trend is following in the footsteps of the somewhat old-fashioned members club, with a focus on the ‘like-minded’ connection. And when the establishment is paired with swanky bars and lounges, alongside private rooms to hang out in, the resulting irresistible atmosphere of exclusivity will conjure up long waiting lists of eager clientele.

This is also a natural extension to how our working lives morphed during those pandemic-friendly stay-at-home days. Work diffused into our private time, and for many of us this has stuck around and become our new reality. All of this means that hotel guests are now looking for flexible bedroom and public area spaces. That translates as informal meeting and working areas that flex into places that are perfect to relax in, have a coffee or something to eat, and socialise later on. This is the new guest experience.

Luxurious Layers

Another smoking hot trend includes layers. The arrangements of these shape-shifting spaces should be focusing on luxurious furnishing.

We’re talking sumptuous and plush, layered fabrics. There’s a balance to be achieved that blends the cosy with the ability to socialise in an extravagant fashion.

Regal Colours

Our recent tips on interior design trends for 2023 highlight the importance of statement colours (we’re talking about you, Viva Magenta) giving a room the jewel-like bling factor. This also includes rich royal blues and deep red hues – yes, it’s making us come over all poetic.

These stunning shades should be presented in on-trend velvets, pure wools, and of course the ever glamorous yet rustic linen.

Serious interior designers are also recommending curved walls and arches to inject the look of the orient, whilst setting it all off with statement hardware such as convex mirrors and opulent lighting.

This is all food for thought, but really only gives a glimpse of what can be achieved with interior design in the hospitality sector. If you think you can add to the conversation, and you’ve got the talent to go far, we’d love to help you step up the career ladder.
