Our rundown of BD's 2017 AYA

Here at mustard, we think awards are very important - a chance to celebrate the achievements of those who have excelled in their fields.  The complimentary drinks are also a bonus.

BD’s Architect of the Year Awards is one our favourite events, and with the ceremony in its 14th year, it’s an important affair. Hosted by comedian Marcus Brigstoke who had big shoes to fill as the previous host was no other than Stephen Fry but he did a fantastic job in his delivery and made us all feel comfortable.

Located at London ExCeL’s Platinum Suite, alongside Ecobuild, the UK’s largest and number one event for specifiers across the built environment.

This year we sponsored the ‘Young Architect of the Year ‘ award and the shortlist this year was no short of excellent – you can read more about all of the entrees on our blog which we curated during the lead up of the event.

The award went to Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt, an architectural studio based in Hampshire, some of their best projects included Alpine Place a redevelopment made up of four blocks and 144 residential units as well as an underground car park.

Whilst all categories celebrate excellence there is one award which is reserved for ‘best of the best’: The Schueco Gold Award. The winner went to Reiach and Hall Architects  - one of Scotland's leading architectural practices.

It was a fantastic evening and we want to extend a massive congratulation to all the winners and thank you BD for having us! Until next year.
