Weekly round up

Another day, another city, another café. However, Melbourne Locals Christina Higgins and Stephen Svenson are saying different as they open a coffee hang out in the hub of the city named Moby 3143.

The reasoning behind the idea that this café isn’t like any others - due to its interior design inspired by Tuscan themes which also is reflected in the menu.

The menu has a playful take on breakfast favourites such buttermilk hotcake with vanilla cream and a selection of local coffee roasters. This reflects in the interior with dark green backdrop beneath the stair frames and marble floors keeping fresh and modern.

Have a look at the interior of this trendy addition here:

Coffey Architects are in the running for  RIBA’s house of the Year with their traditional Japanese design techniques to achieve the best out of the light and space of the three-metre-wide London mews house.

The layout includes a moving staircase in the centre, translucent walls and open planned floor. The interior design is based on rice paper which allows light to shed through but not harshly, along with the glass panels which shows views of downstairs. The house is under 100 square metre floor space and four storeys .

"The home is conceived as a life sized piece of joinery," said studio founder Phil Coffey, "a Japanese treasure chest for living that sits between the white painted brick finish walls of the adjacent mews neighbours."

The design is pretty beautiful if we may say so ourselves, have a look here:
