Senior Interior Design Consultant Phil Boshier discusses life after graduation with students at Plymouth College of Art.

During a reading week for students at Plymouth College of Art – a specialist, independent art school, our Senior Interiors Consultant Phil Boshier was invited to speak with the college’s first ever group of graduating Interior Designers. The college held over 15 sessions with subjects ranging from ‘How to Network’ through to ‘Getting Commissions’. Phil was invited to discuss Jobs in the Design Sector with 40 budding and aspiring young people looking to move from education to employment.

It is clearly an important time for the students and the more information they can gain from people working in all areas of the design industry the better. Offering information about what graduates can expect to earn, where jobs are and current available opportunities the students took notes on the importance of upskilling themselves and keeping up with current design trends.
The college offer an all-encompassing course and with the amazing guidance of Catheryn Bishop & Ally Turner allows their students access to impressive facilities, develop a range of hard skills including Auto CAD, InDesign, Photoshop, photography, and perspective and scale drawing plus work on many different kinds of interiors from domestic to commercial. As well as “classroom teaching” the students are allowed the opportunity to experience live projects with clients, photographers, filmmakers and designers.

Feedback from Phil on the event was really positive and its always exciting for mustard to engage with the UK's next crop of design talent. If you are currently looking for work in Interior Design or alternatively you would like to invite one of our Senior Consultants/ Directors down to talk at your college to your students please do not hesitate to get in touch on
