D&AD new blood festival 2017

New Blood Festival takes place at the The Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch, London and this year the event was open to the public on the first week of July.  
The aim of the festival is to bring together emerging talent and industry professionals; a chance to network and show off talent whilst also celebrating other individuals’ achievements. The event hosts an exhibition along with Fringe events that attracts several university courses across the UK – an opportunity for creative students and graduates to showcase their work amongst professionals.  
Students, recent graduates and under 24s around the world hope to win a New Blood Pencil; an instant validation of your talent.

This is definite 'save the date' for the diary and a few of us from mustard enjoyed our annual trip over to see what was on offer from this year’s exhibitors. We were not disappointed as we saw a selection of impressive work and had the privilege to speak to several talented young people, we’re sure we say it every year but the standard does seem to get better and better.
A few shout outs to Nora Al-Hindi from Birmingham City University who shined with her advertising project, The Escape Plan. Joaquim Harding De Rosa really impressed us with his branding project for a new alcoholic beverage in line with a brief from Brand Opus, he created ‘Mixup’ an enticing combination of alcohol and sweets. Special mention should also go to Teeside University who put in a lot of time and effort to  fundraise the money for their stall: They raised £2,000 through a variety of means including bake sales, quizzes, freelance work and a popular FIFA tournament, great effort from them showing how hard some of these young creatives want to achieve big things!  
At mustard we want to wish everyone who showcased their work a huge congratulations, we can’t wait to see what this crop of talent goes on to achieve.
